from my JOURNEY to yours - memories and lessons
Aayla
Aayla came from zero ice skating family background. She joined Kristen's Learn to Skate Level 2 class and came off the ice with the biggest smile. After just one lesson, we requested Kristen to take Aayla on for one-to-one coaching and with Kristen's support, she worked her way through the levels. Honestly, the progress has blown us away.
Aayla used to sit and watch the patch sessions, just in awe of the skaters gliding around with their spins and jumps, never thinking she'd ever be able to do any of that. Two years later, she's out there doing it herself.
The technical skills Aayla has picked up under Kristen in such a short time are things we never imagined she'd achieve. Kristen has this amazing ability to take difficult elements and break them down in a way that just clicks for young skaters, all while keeping it enjoyable. She always puts her students first and that really shows in the way Aayla has grown. Aayla always looks forward to her sessions with Kristen and comes home happy every time.
We feel so lucky to have found Kristen. She's not just a great coach but she makes kids believe they can do things they never thought possible. We can't wait to see where this journey takes us.

Kristen has been an amazing mentor, taking the time to really understand Indigo’s ambitions as well as the challenges that come with being a young athlete. Indigo feels hugely supported, motivated, and empowered to keep pushing towards her goals. Kristen truly goes above and beyond for her athletes.
More recently, through Kristen, we started working with Rianne to help us better understand how to fuel Indigo’s training and support her growth during such an important stage of her development. The knowledge and guidance have already made a noticeable difference, and I can see Indigo thriving both on and off the ice. We’re so grateful for the support, care, and expertise from the whole team.

Kayleigh
Before starting work together on ice, I had lost a lot of self-belief. I couldn’t see how I was going to improve and felt like I had lost who I really was on the ice. It got to the point where I started questioning whether I should stop competing altogether, even feeling like I was “too old” to continue.
During the process, we focused on both the mental and physical challenges I was facing, rebuilding my confidence step by step. As things started to click, I noticed a real shift in how I felt and how I skated — my jumps became more powerful, higher, and more consistent, with much better landing positions, moving from under-rotations to strong, controlled elements. In the space of around eight months, I felt better than I had in a long time and found myself genuinely excited to compete again and show what I can do.
A real turning point was when my family saw me skate for the first time in months and couldn’t believe how much more confident and happy I looked on the ice — their reaction made me realise just how much I had changed.
If another skater or coach asked me about working with Kristen, I would honestly say it has been incredible. Her support, encouragement, and hard work in our sessions have made a huge difference to my skating. It takes commitment and dedication, but it has been completely worth it — I wouldn’t be the skater I am today without it.
I’ve enjoyed most is knowing I’m not on my own. I always feel Kristen is there when I need support, and that has made a massive difference to both my skating and my confidence.
Flo
Kristen is an exceptional coach for our daughter, Flo. From the very beginning, Kristen has been engaging, encouraging and incredibly supportive building such a lovely connection with Flo. Her sessions complement Flo’s on-ice training perfectly, helping her build strength, coordination and skills in a way that really shows on the ice.
Kristen knows exactly how to challenge and motivate her athletes while making the classes fun and enjoyable. Flo always comes away from each session feeling motivated, confident and excited to keep improving. Despite our family being based overseas, Kristen has created a wonderful connection with Flo and has become a genuine role model.
What sets Kristen apart is her ability to truly inspire young athletes. She is an outstanding coach and mentor, and Flo is incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to work with her.

My daughter is so incredibly fortunate to have Kristen as her head coach. She always looks forward to her lessons as Kristen manages to create the perfect balance between fun and pushing further towards personal goals. Kristen has taken my daughter from competing in her first beginners competition to National 3 in 18 months… the progress has been phenomenal (I wish we had found Kristen sooner!). My daughter has also had some health struggles and injuries during this time and Kristen has been there to help and support her through all of this and to come out the other side stronger. We could not recommend Kristen enough!
